Since 1800, the name Ballantyne has been linked to fine Scottish yarns such as tweed and tartan which Henry Ballantyne, its founder, began to market even in their lighter variations.

Continuing the legacy left by Henry, D.Ballantyne Brothers & Co. Ltd was founded in 1921, uniting the activities of the Ballantyne children under one name.

The brand's reputation saw exponential growth especially in the 1950s thanks to the iconicity of the diamond inlay and argyle workmanship which were appreciated by celebrities and nobility.

In 1967, Queen Elizabeth awarded the company the Queen Award for the quality of cashmere, affirming its positioning in the luxury knitwear sector.

Ballantyne continues to strengthen its prestige by perfecting the use of inlay that has made the brand known throughout the world.
